Grade 6
To all of my new 6th Grade Students:
I cannot wait to show you all the new and exciting things about making a web page. We are going to use a wiki for this project this year. We will all use the same wiki so all of our pages will be linked together. You will have access to read everyone's page but you will only get to edit your own. This means that while other students can read what you write, they cannot change it.
This webpage will serve a few purposes for us this year. Let me tell you what I see for us. I would welcome your input as we learn and grow together of how we can use this page more.
- this is a great place to show off our writing that we would like input on
- I will use this site to post things for you to access
- I will leave messages to you all
Let me explain about showing off your writing. By the end of this year you will be required to have completed an original book. During the year, we will be practicing our writing for this book. Let's say you have a great idea and you want other opinions on it. Write it on your page and let other students comment. Maybe you have writers block and need help to get going again. Write on your page your story ideas and ask students to comment.
Now, there will be documents that I create online in which I will make available on this site for you. You can then click on them and print them out if needed; both in school and at home. Did your family go to Massachussetts for the weekend and you forgot your papers? Just go to our wiki and work from the site.
So, here is your first challenge- go to your page and create your title and add a short message to your classmates. You will want to watch this video on how to edit a wiki so you know just what to do.

P.S. I will add more wiki challenges later on for you. You can find them here on this page.
